Sensi Damien Larson:
Damien began what would become a life long journey into Martial Arts at the age of 8 years old. After attending a karate themed birthday party. The excitement of board breaking and high flying kicks had him instantly hooked. His asked and Mother signed him up for classes the very next week! From that point on he remained dedicated and found a true passion in Martial Arts! The first and longest of his studies was in a discipline called American Freestyle Martial Arts. It is an eclectic mix of teachings developed by Master Alex Wilkie, combining attributes of Kickboxing, Western Boxing, Ninjutsu, Brazilian Jui-Jutsu and also forms of knife fighting and the Filipino arts Escrima and Kali (stick fighting)!
Damien Studied under Alex Wilkie's Black Belt instructor Sensi Mark Castellano, where he also learned close hand combat and self defense techniques while training with members of The Morris County S.W.A.T team. Damien competed in multiple Martial Arts competitions in kumite, (point sparring) as well as empty hand and weapons katas (detailed choreographed patterns of movements). By the age of 16 he was teaching classes and spent a short while studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In 2014 he achieved the rank of Sensi Black Belt after 14 years of dedication and hard training! He continued to study American Freestyle Martial Arts and eventually moved on to learn Yee's Hung Ga Kung Fu Under the tutilage of Sifu Tom Grant. Hung Ga is an authentic Southern Shaolin Kung Fu style who's linage can be traced back to the Shaolin temples of Southern China. He achieved Yut Cup rank in this discipline, learning aspects of the 5 Animal fighting style, various weapon forms as well as Chinese herbal medicine and energy work. Damien also spent a short time at a Zen Mountian Buddhist Monastery while attending a Zen Meditation and Akido intensive retreat taught by renowned Master William Gleason.
