I’ve always enjoyed going to the gym, but as I’ve gotten older, I noticed that I was no longer getting the results I did when I was younger. Not to mention - I was bored!! I had been wanting to try Crossfit for awhile, but was scared. I didn’t think I was strong enough. I was scared I’d get hurt. I didn’t want to embarrass myself. These all seemed like valid excuses until I got to Crossfit East Hanover. I found out that “not strong enough” isn’t something to hold me back. That’s the beauty of this gym — we are all at different fitness levels and face various challenges, but our supportive coaches are always modifying or substituting movements to keep us all safe while having fun! I’ve joined many gyms over the years. You get in the gym, do your workout, and leave. At Crossfit East Hanover, I have made some great friends! They have encouraged me through many workouts, and it’s so cool to celebrate reaching a goal with the people who have helped you get there. I can’t imagine working out anywhere else! - Jen H
For many years, I’ve done the regular gym thing or just running outside, in an attempt to stay in shape but never really saw the gains I would have hoped. That is now all a thing of the past since I started working out at East Hanover CrossFit. In just 6 months since I started (in Dec 2016) I have seen huge improvements. I’ve lost inches off my waist and chest, while significantly increasing strength and overall endurance. The coaches do agreat job of both motivating and guiding you down the path to fitness while ensuring you do things safely and at your own pace. The coaches always preach proper form/technique rather than just letting you rush into a heavy weight. They really do care.
A regular gym is simply not the same as sticking to a CrossFit regimen. It’s a true feeling of team as your always working out with a group, always motivating and pushing each other to get faster and stronger. You just don’t get that sort of positivity and motivation when doing bicep curls in front of a mirror at a gym by yourself. You get all this done in one hour, that’s it, one hour out of your day to make yourself better in so many ways. Just come ready to listen to the coaches, ready to work hard and remember you’re only competing against yourself, not the person next you.
Simply put, I feel so much better, both physically and mentally, compared to when I started CrossFit 6 months ago. I look forward to continuing my path to self-improvement with guidance from Coach Damien and the whole crew at East Hanover CrossFit.
I joined CrossFit East Hanover several months ago and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun and challenging way to get in better shape. I am 43 years old and had become aware that spending the past 25 years sitting at a desk had taken a toll on my health and that I needed to get in better shape for the sake of my well-being, career and future. After several months of workouts I can feel and see the benefits and changes that the crew at CrossFit East Hanover can deliver. The workouts are rigorous but the coaches will cater each workout to your specific needs, they will challenge you, but not ask you to do more than they feel would be safe for your level of strength and conditioning.
Coach Damien, the owner, has done a great job of keeping me grounded in my workouts and holding me back when I might let my pride get the better of me and try to lift more than I should or try an exercise I might not be ready for. In fact every coach I have had the pleasure of working with has offered a unique perspective on how I can better accomplish my goals, and get myself in better shape without hurting myself, which as we all know gets easier as we get older. The environment in this place is really enjoyable, which is important to Coach Damien. The gym always has a cordial light hearted mood, the coaches, and believe it or not, the other clients at the gym are tremendously encouraging and really supportive, when you are struggling you can expect everyone around you to cheer you on and motivate you too try harder than you thought you could to finish the workouts.
If you are interested in getting into CrossFit don't be intimidated, come by CrossFit East Hanover and give it try, it will be challenging and tough and rewarding and fun...all at the same time. And with the knowledgeable staff at CFEH anyone can do it. It has really changed my life for the better.
I've been working out with Anthony for over 2 years and can't believe the difference I'm seeing and feeling. I've always been into working out but focused only on cardio so I had very little muscle definition especially in my arms. Since working out with Anthony I’m leaner, stronger and have started to see muscle definition all over. His workouts are HARD but super fun. It's never the same routine each week so it's never boring and every time I'm getting a full body workout! He is keeping me motivated; I'm even doing his circuits at home. I started training with Anthony in September 2015 when I first started training in Retro Fitness. When he left Retro to come to work at CrossFit East Hanover I left with him. In the time that I have worked with Anthony, I have finally seen results of lean muscle that I have been attempting to achieve with previous trainers, unsuccessfully. Working out with Anthony is both fun and challenging. He is encouraging, energetic, extremely flexible with my crazy work schedule, supportive, knowledgeable about exercise and nutrition and always willing to educate.
